Jack had often said that he'd like to ride Saddle Sore 1000's in each of the 50 states, and he was well on his way to accomplishing that goal when his life was cut short by a heart attack. In his honor and memory, a select group of us will be able to memorialize Jack's dream by riding in-state SS1k's in each of the 50 states on one day. Suggested dates are October 15 or October 22. Those days should present decent weather--not too hot and not too cold.
The IBA will issue a very special certificate for this ride at a discounted price of $22 (certification only program). All IBA rules will apply as to documentation and, if the ride is circuitous (like it must be in some of the eastern states) special witness rules may apply.
Jack was a friend and, at least to me, a hero. He was truly a LD rider. He completed countless IBA events. Let's add this event to his legacy.
I will be the IBA point person on this historic series of rides. If you would like to participate in this event, please let me know (off list) what date would be best (if you can do either please say so) and what state you would like to ride in. If you would be willing to ride in any one of several states, please let me know that, since I'm certain there will be some states without firm volunteers.

Okay boys and girls, let’s get ready to ride! This will be the last update you’ll have to endure from me before the ride.
Before you ride
1. Get some sleep
2. Pack your camera
3. If , for any reason, you’re not going to ride, please let me know pronto.During the ride
1. Take a few interesting pictures along the way, with you and/or your bike in the pic.
2. If, for any reason, you must abort the route, please call me at 901-230-0922 and let me know that you are okay.
3. Be careful. Listen to your body. If you get tired, take a rest.After the ride
1. Send me a quickie email saying “at home” so I can stop worrying about you.
2. Get some sleep.
3. When you get up, send me an email with your pictures. If you had some interesting experiences on the trip, tell me about them. We may be able to have an article published about the trip in the IBA Magazine.NOTE: Please tell me if this this your first IBA ride? If not, in what year did you ride your last rally or IBA ride?
4. Gather your witness forms, gas receipts and trip/gas log; photocopy this stuff, and mail me, along with your check for $22 made payable to Iron Butt Association, the copies (you keep the originals).

Where do I send my documentation after the ride?

When I receive your documents, I will send you an email acknowledging receipt. I will then send them along to the IBA auditors as a group. This should speed up the process of getting your certificates.
If you want some additional items, like the license plate backer or pin, just add that purchase amount to the check.
